The private collector Carlos Uzkiano has been collecting over 1,000 irons from 25 countries on five continents over time. It is one of the most important collections in Europe and shows the different times and societies through this daily and socially important activity such as ironing and its historical relationship with clothing.
For the exhibition, Carlos has selected 300 unique irons that are displayed chronologically, from the Egyptian, Greek or Chinese cultures, to medieval Europe, the Modern Age, to today’s advanced technologies.
Without forgetting the use and manufacture of these tools in the Basque Country.
